I too live 'overseas' and am often asked 'so what would Indians feel about ....' It could be anything from 9/11 to chicken tikka masala and I often respond 'I can't represent one billion people, I can only tell you what I think.' In response to the point 'not all Indian marriages are arranged' I would also add 'Not all arranged marriages are the same' and also 'lots of American/British/ European marriages are arranged' (ever checked out the number of dating websites people use to find partners/ spouses)' ...and finally possibly, 'it doesn't really matter because arranged marriages are not necessarily a bad way of bringing people together.' How true! This needs to be the last stanza of a poem. :) (Or is it one?) “Yes, I am a woman.
